Battle Lover Sulfur
Sulfur wasn't my first choice, I actually wanted to cosplay Yufien/Cerulean! But there was a casting call for the Pony Canyon booth at Otakon, the production team behind the anime! I applied for Yufien but they only had Sulfur available SOOOOOOOOOO I decided to do the money boy because I really wanted to be in this group. It was my first time I worked as a professional cosplayer and it was so fun, learned many things, talked to so many people, and would love to do it again. I only wore this cosplay once however, despite my many attempts to wear it again. It's something that was well made and what I'm really proud of but he's just an obscure character alone that I felt a little afraid to cosplay him alone.
I had a shorter window of time from my approval date vs the con so I had to make this fast. My bonus was I had already made this coat before (Atsushi/Epinard) as a commission so I had the basic idea of how to make this! I used kona cotten for most, I wasn't aiming for something super fancy, just functional.
I started with the coat. I made a custom pattern for this and just went in. All the black lines are bias tape I appliqued on. I made a mini ruffle (under the bow) that hides some of the snaps I used to close the coat. The sleeves are a puffy sleeve with a V cuff that has thick interfacing to keep it's shape. The collar is made with the same interfacing and used the same bias tape to seal the edges. There's a tiny little button on the back to hold up the black chord that wraps around the torso. The tails have wire in between the black bias tape (that was a pain to sew around!) so it holds it shape very well. It can fold for easier storage.
The bow is made using cotton as well with interfacing inside. The 'gem' was made with air dry clay and has a safety pin to pin onto the bow. The bow has another safety pin on to pin to the coat. It's nice and poofy which is what I wanted!
Pants are made using the same fabric as the coat. Simple elastic high waist with cuffs on the bottom.
Shoes are boot covers made using scraps of left over fabric. I glued them all on because I was running out of time.
Wig is from ebay.
Gloves are from my cosplay accessory pile.
