Reisi Munakata (Military)
One of those cosplays I rushed into with no real thought other than FANCY TRIMS and resulted in so many errors and short cuts. But hey...fancy trims right? I tried really hard on this however but realized I was out of my element a bit. I wore him only TWICE because of how much I didn't like it. Also....I mirrored the undercoat by accident. Yeah, this is one I'm not happy about at all. I think the only thing I liked out of the whole project was the sword.
I first did the hat. I bought a military hat off of Ebay and did the details in foam and trim. It's less fancy but it was my first time working on a hat. The sword is a prop from Party City that I painted and added the details onto, it was actually well done and still think it's a nicely made/altered prop! The shirt, pants, boots, glasses, and tie were all things I already owned.
The over coat was actually something I made back in high school, around 2007 when I started getting into sewing. My mom bought the fabric so it was pretty nice, not the best made but it survived for many years, still fits! I added the epaulets on the shoulders and did some minor seam fixes and boom, done.
The tunic (as I call it) was made from again, broad cloth. It's fully lined. I used nicer trims for everything because I wanted this to be fancy! But that's where it ends from there, all those button/holes are fake, everything is closed with snaps. The sleeves (sleeve holes actually, there are no sleeves) aren't even properly closed. The trims are sewn on after I lined it so it's...a mess. Just a mess. *finger funs*
The 2nd time I wore this was to fulfill the goal I had for this cosplay originally, a huge military group! I had no intention of wearing it ever again but I saw this group needed a Munakata and I jumped on it with 0 regrets. I met some AMAZING friends and just love how the shoot came about. Everyone looked great....just wish mine looked as good haha. I felt way out classed.
