Levi Ackerman
Levi is the character type that I like, the hardest part? His height. I am a tall person while Levi is short. But I still loved the character so I went ahead and did the thing! This had a lot of firsts for me and I opted for some nicer and sturdier fabrics because I knew this needed a certain style. I shopped around for a bit and settled on duck canvas for the harness and boots, and a heavy weight cotton.
The first thing I tackled was the coat. I used a simplicity pattern and did some alterations. It was a pretty easy build because it was almost an exact copy, I just had to shorten it a bit. The pockets are functional and everything was top stitched. The patches were bought off ebay and glued onto the coat. It's fully lined as well, and to this day I believe this was the best thing I ever constructed.
I made the hardness twice. The first iteration failed because I ran out of fabric and thus it didn't fit right and didn't go all the way around. The 2nd attempt I followed a colored reference that broke down the harness pretty well. I wanted to prevent the woes of everyone else's harnesses of falling down while they walked. So I made mine as one piece. It's a very specific fit and it goes on likes pants first and then like a coat. It opens only in 3 spots. Doesn't make it easy to to go to the bathroom! But it works, it fits great, doesn't fall down, and retains the classic look effortlessly.
The boots are just simple covers I made using the same fabric as the harness so it matched. It zips over heeled shoe with elastic on the bottom to keep it in place. It's comfortable as long as your shoe is comfortable. The waist wrap was from the remnant pile at Joannes that was just enough, the right color, and I didn't have to sew it!
Ascot was made just by making a rectangle with some fabric. The shirt and pants were already owned.
