King Kageyama (Fantasy AU)

My first AU cosplay ever!! I was browsing Tumblr like I always do, and a HQ blog I followed reshared a fan art of Kageyama and I LOVED IT SO SO MUCH!! I thought about it and said "if the artist lets me, I'll totally cosplay this" and they did! I got started right away. The design is by CanaryWitch on tumblr!! It's part of their Haikyuu AU, which has designs for many characters!! (Suga is a Necomancer and it's amazing)

I started with the collar first because I knew that would be the hardest to make. I found a free pattern for a neck corset that I enlarged for the right dimensions I needed. The base was made from left over lining fabric that I added craft foam boning in order to hold shape better. It has a zipper in the back. The feathers are two types of feathers: black duck feathers and black/green coque feathers (both purchased from Moonlight Feathers). I simple just hot glued them in laters, which was probably not the best idea because the quills were felt on my neck which made this rather uncomfortable. Oh well! I got the shape I wanted but occasionally between wears I had to glue feathers back on. I hope people enjoyed finding my feathers at whatever con I wore this at!!

The tunic was made from left over suiting fabric I had and some really nice printed fabric I found at Jo-Annes. I basically made a coat with bishop sleeves. It's not lined. I got some nice trim to use as an applique. It has a zipper in the front which helps me get in and out of very fast. The cuffs were made with the same fabric amd drew on the faint white lines (and sealed with a sealing spray). The feathers were added to the cuffs but they did not last long and once the con was over, I tore them off and never put them back on. They made movement a PAIN.

The belt is just simple ribbon that I added a square ring to. Has a crommet to get in and out of.

The cape is made from the same suitng fabric. I played with the shape where it exposed my back a bit with a deep dip. It has a snap in the front, which is hidden when the collar is put on.

The crown is made from a craft foam base and then worbla on top. I got some nice gems to put on it that I got from a local bead shop (I also bought some beads there for the necklace). I wanted something not super shiney so these opaque gems were PERFECT and they were the right size. It's a tight fit but it works. Eventually the seam for the worbla did break but it didn't look so bad? And it let me fit the crown better. If I were making this now, I know of better ways to make this but it works. It's just a bit heavy.

The necklace was a process and I actually hate wearing it, but it was fun to make. It's craft foam bases for each big piece, that I worbla'd over. I added A BUNCH OF NONSENSE gems I had, like skulls, wings, basic black beads, and whatever else I could find. I wanted to cover the worbla as best I could. The "gems" are actually pieces of worbla I formed in a resin gem mold and painted. It's a horrible idea but it looks good from afar at least. I hand made all the chains and fixings but chain and hot glue don't mix so it often broke. Bleh. It has the proper clasps that hook in the front. It's a PAIN TO PUT ON and to wear. I don't like this piece but it looks decent????

Everything else was stuff I already owned, like the pants and shoes. The wig is the remains of my Judar wig!!
