Ja'Far
Ahh, my first Magi cosplay. I started this about 3 days prior to the con I wanted to wear him to. It was actually super easy to make though some parts were tedious.
I first started on the turban. I used basic broadcloth cotton for this. The emblem was made from craft foam and some puffy paint for details. The gem is clay I formed and panted. There's a chain that wraps around the turban and it's completely attached to it. This is not lined and it barely fits on my head because I didn't account for wig. Oops.
The top is a basic coat thingy. I really just cut shapes until I made it work. The fabric is linen that I had left over from a commission. I satin stitched the gold lines on the sleeves. The sleeve hems were rolled. The green parts are just strips I sewed on them and they don't curve at all so they get very wonky at the neck. The strips are satin stitched with black thread to mimic the designs (I used a craft foam template to make the shapes as even as possible). This was the longest part. The shirt is not lined.
The skirt is just three pieces of fabric sewn together. It has an elastic waist band. Because it has no curve, it's a little weird to walk in. This is not lined. The tabard is a separate piece that I tuck in to the skirt under the belt, similar to how I did Child Judar. The green strips are from the same section as I did the top. I didn't hem roll these and this frayed the worst.
Wig is from Ebay that I recycled for various cosplayers.
I never got around to making his prop and after awhile, the seams everywhere started to come undone that I retired the cosplay.
