Dantalion
I was at Katsucon 2013 when that Sunday the anime was announced. I spent the next week working on Dantalion because I wanted to cosplay it so badly and hoped other people would cosplay it too. I had based the color on the manga cover from volume 2, which made his tunic black/pink. So my first edition was wrong when the anime aired because womp, it was RED! Easy fix. I never finished his cape because I actually hated how it looked.
The tunic is a weird design and I had 0 idea how to make it. I have better ideas now but back then, still being rather new to making stuff I was ???? almost the entire time. I started off making a turtle neck shirt but cut it up a bit below the collarbone to make the front red part cross over. I basically put my head in and then close the front. A wonky design but hey, it worked. The entire thing wasn't lined, lining was for squares back then! The cuffs were my first time using interfacing!!! Go me~!
The cape was a simplicity pattern I altered, I added a folded collar and made parts of it wider for the folded...collar? The word escapes me but yeah, the front panel collars. It just sits on my shoulders with no support! The claws are made from clay that are glued on. They're rather smaller than I wanted.
The belt was made from wonderflex, my first time using a thermoplastic. It was hard and it didn't work as well as I wanted. I made a 2nd edition out of craft foam that broke within minutes. Welp.
The boots are the boot covers from my Charles Gray cosplay because I didn't have any money to buy new shoes. The pants and gloves were stuff I already owned.
The wig is an E-bay wig that I recycled many times and still use to this day!
One memory I have of this cosplay was that at Animazement 2013 some of the Japanese guests/translators knew who I was and was legit fang girling over me! I had no idea what they were saying but they took my picture so I can only assume I got posted on twitter about how some con in the US had a Makai Ouji cosplayer before the anime even came out haha.
