Alibaba Saluja
Alibaba was a very quick passion project for me. I decided I wanted to cosplay him for Cosplay America in 2015 because I had a lot of the fabric already! I made this in about 3 days right before the con so that crunch was real! But it was a lot easier than I thought. I tried some new techniques with sewing that was interesting and got my friend to cosplay Elizabeth which led to many funny moments.
The shirt was just some left over green fabric from Ja'fars turban. It's sleeveless, not lined, and just really a square. It fits weird but it's due to me not being able to bind properly. I patterned it while binded so boobs. Boobs got in the way.
The coat is the same linen fabric I used for Ja'far because I liked how it felt and looked. I didn't use a pattern for this....I didn't use a pattern for any of this actually. I just made shapes and when with it. I cut up strips and rolled them up and hand sewn them onto the sleeve edges to give that rolled sleeve look. It makes it heavy and weighs the sleeves down a bit but honestly I had no idea what else to do at the time. Technically I still don't!
The pants were made with the same linen fabric. Also not lined. But I rolled the hems to prevent fraying! One day I'll get a serger...The pants are elastic at the waist and the bottom part is just a solid seam that I slip my leg through. However I didn't anticipate weight fluxes so they currently do not fit! I'll remake them probably. Someday.
The neck rope I used embroidery thread and spent a whole day just braiding strands into larger strands and kept going until it got to the size I wanted it to be.
The sashes are two pieces, one is an stretchy fabric I just fit over my head while the red/gold one is tied in a knot. It's tied with the dagger so I can get it tight enough to hold my prop. This is the only part of the costume that features lining.
The sword was a prop commissioned by my friend who did my Judar wand. It's a bit fragile but I love how it looks and it's the perfect size!
The shoe is forever a WIP because Idk how to make that weird shoe. The wig is a basic E-bay wig I just teased and made a horn. I recycled this wig for my Noiz cosplay (minus horn).
